Original Play Written & Directed by Matt Grandpre

When the Manchester Academy Running Squad of British girl competition runners competes in the 26th Appalachian Cross Trail Marathon, they take a wrong turn and get lost on the 12th mile. Looking for help, the team literally runs into two quirky characters who bring them back to their family home for safety, in the Backwoods Ecological Village Commune. This comedy features unique characters from opposite lifestyles who face the adventure of a lifetime, as a search party of coaches and forest rangers embark on a quest deep in the Appalachian woods. This workshop focuses on developing characters, relationships, and back stories unlike any previous characters through weekly class activities and theater games featuring four very different character dialects. By the time the runners finally reach the finish line, the characters learn to embrace one another’s’ differences, resulting in a stronger team.
