Gain a basic understanding of Layers, Masks, and Modes in this class. Learn how they affect the image; how to manage their use; and how to use them to create composite images, colorized images, and to create various special effects.
Understanding and using layers in Photoshop (or any other image editing program that support layers) is one of the basic skills needed in image editing. Whether you want to correct exposure, color, or contrast in an image, using layers is the best way to do it. Layers also let you add text, combine images to create a composite, and even colorize a black and white image.
Masks are used with multi-layered images to hide or reveal parts of an image. Understanding how masks work with layers is critical to using layers successfully. Modes change the way layers in an image interact with each other.
