« back to classes page
Calling young playwrights: would you like to create your own play or movie script? You can in this class! While writing an original play, learn to develop backstory, technical effects, acting/staging directions, and excellent character dialogue through icebreaker activities like "Dynamite Action," "Script-It Showdown," and "Take 5 Deadline." Practice assigning roles, reading scripts with minimum props, arranging set pieces, and giving stage directions as directors of the play you write, you create, and you perform. On Friday, the class will put on a performance of every student's new and original play. Students in class will be assigned as characters and every playwright directs his or her original play. This collaborative workshop allows students to create awesome entertainment from scratch and bond as a group while performing their own work.
