This online certificate program, developed by Google and hosted on the Coursera online learning platform, teaches the skills needed for entry-level IT support positions in 6 months or less with about 10-15 hours per week of dedicated course work.
Through a mix of video lectures, readings, quizzes, as well as hands-on labs and widgets, the program introduces you to troubleshooting and customer service, computer networking, operating systems, system administration and cyber security.
The program consists of five courses:
- Technical Support Fundamentals
- The Bits and Bytes of Computer Networking
- Operating Systems and You: Becoming a Power User
- Systems Administration and IT Infrastructure Services
- IT Security: Defense Against the Digital Dark Arts
After completion of the program, you can choose to have your information sent to leading employers including Bank of America, Cognizant, GE Digital, Google, Hulu, Infosys, MCPc, PNC Bank, RICOH USA, Spring IT, TEKSystems, UPMC, and Walmart and its subsidiary companies, or explore the local employers.
Students who can provide current certification in Google IT Support Professional Certificate may receive credit for ITN 106, Microcomputer Operating Systems (3 credits) and ITN 107, Personal Computer Hardware and Troubleshooting (3 credits) when enrolling in the Information Systems Technology curriculum program at BRCC.
