Turning Operations I: Turning Between Centers

Prerequisite - Introduction to Precision Machining (formerly Fundamentals of Fabrication), Machine Tool I & II and Milling.  

This intermediate level machining course will continue to explain turning operations on the manual lathe with the addition of detailed instruction in turning a part between centers.  Many of the different turning operations that will be performed on the NIMS student project will be discussed and demonstrated such as threading, knurling and parting.  Job planning with respect to turning between centers will be discussed and demonstrated.  There will be a NIMS turning project as well as a NIMS online exam (Turning/Chucking and Turning/Turning between centers) to earn NIMS credentials.
