Prerequisite - Welding Fundamentals and/or previous GTAW welding experience is recommended.
Provides the student with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to do both manual and orbital GTAW welding of carbon steel pipe and sanitary stainless tubing. The GTAW welding process will be used for practice welds on pipe diameters from 2-6 inches on butt weld, socket weld, and groove weld pipe fittings. Walking the cup welding technique, manual purge welding set up, weld parameters, purge gas verification, flow rates, and basic pipe-fitting practices will be covered. Orbital welding training will be covered on stainless sanitary tubing using an Orbitalum Orbital Welding system. All stainless sanitary welding will be done in accordance with ASME BPE-1997 and ASME B31.3. (ASME GTAW certification)
This is an ACCELERATED 8 week class that meets for 6 hours on both Saturday and Sunday for a total of 12 hours per weekend.
