Introduction to Pipe Welding

CourseGraphic Prerequisite - Welding Fundamentals and 3G "Open-root" plate certification. Enhance your welding skills with this class that focuses on the techniques used for welding pipe.  The shielded metal arc (SMAW) and gas tungsten arc (GTAW) welding processes are used to perform practice welds on pipe diameters up to 6 inches.  Free-hand manual and "walking-the-cup" Tig welding styles are demonstrated to progress through learning to weld pipe in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.  One-on-one coaching, welding demonstrations, and videos help guide you through the challenging process of pipe welding.  All instruction conforms to ASME Section IX Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code Steel.  The final test for certification in pipe welding will be done in the 6G position (45 degrees).  Upon satisfactory completion of the weld test, you will receive an AWS Welding Certification.  Must have permission from instructor prior to registration.
