ID : 8474
« back to classes page
Hiking opportunities abound in the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains! Through games and activities, you will develop skills in using a compass and reading maps. You will also learn how to build a fire and use it for cooking and baking. (Yummy cinnamon rolls, anyone?) A highlight of the week is lashing (building with twine and twigs) a sled and racing through an obstacle course. Take a Hike follows the conservation techniques as defined by the national organization "Leave No Trace" and features two hiking days to local destinations like Humpback Rocks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Jones Run located in the Shenandoah National Park. Get out and enjoy the great outdoors!
