n this fundamentals class, you'll learn the four basic welding processes most commonly used in industrial fabrication: Oxy-Fuel Welding, Brazing and Cutting along with Plasma Cutting. Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (including Flux-core Welding). Welding Safety and workshop Safety procedures, welding tools and equipment, and basic welding drawing interpretation will also be introduced. You will learn the necessary skills to construct a small pressure vessel as a final project. Building on the fundamentals introduced in the first phase of the welding class, the second part will focus on refining skills required to make vertical and overhead welds on Steel Plate . You'll be engaged in extensive practice welding using the SMAW (also known as Stick Welding) and FCAW (also know as Flux-core) welding processes. More in-depth study of welding drawings and welding symbols/terminology will also be included. The completed course prepares students to take the AWS certification test in 3G (Vertical ) and 4G (Overhead) positions in accordance with D1.1 Structural Welding Code-Steel. These skills will prepare the student for employment as entry-level Structural Welders.
Welding textbook: Principles and Applications, Eighth Edition BOOK IS PROVIDED AS PART OF THE FEES AND WILL BE HANDED OUT AT THE FIRST CLASS.
