Introduction to Welding Fabrication (GMAW)

Prerequisite - Welding Fundamentals or previous welding experience is recommended.  Focuses on welding and fabrication skills used in building welded metal projects. Students will create a cost sheet of materials, factor in total weight of their project, cut and tack-weld all components together, and make final welds to complete the job. Welding safety and various welding processes (GTAW, GMAW and SMAW) and safe shop practices will be discussed and demonstrated.  The class will also have a team project utilizing the Ercolina Pipe Bending system where each team will build a section of handrail according to shop drawings. This project will include job planning, material cost estimation, pipe-bending, and team building skills. Training on all types of weld shop equipment will be included and students will create a small welded assembly to keep. (AWS GMAW certification)
