Launch your career in Heavy Equipment Operation with a comprehensive curriculum covering trade orientation, equipment identification and safety, basic operational techniques, earthmoving, and site grading. This program bridges theory and practice by combining classroom instruction, self-paced online coursework, and simulator-based training with intensive, hands-on operation of live heavy equipment. You will also learn modern site-work technology, including practical training with construction lasers and GPS systems.
The program establishes the industry-standard safety foundation required for professional operation. The schedule begins with dedicated training for the OSHA 10-Hour Construction card, followed by the NCCER Heavy Equipment Operator Level 1 curriculum. Successful completion of the program results in both the OSHA 10 card and the NCCER Level 1 credential.
BRCC currently has scholarship funding to defray the cost of many workforce courses - such as Heavy Equipment Operation Level 1. Most Virginia residents receive a 2/3 discount on tuition and, for many unemployed individuals or individuals in low paying jobs, courses are free or nearly free.
