Quick Guide: Activating Your MyBRCC Account


The MyBRCC portal provides single-login access to all your primary student applications:
  • Canvas: Where your online courses, syllabi, and assignments live.
  • VCCS Email (G-Mail): Your official college email inbox.
  • Google Drive & Zoom: Tools for your course projects and live virtual class meetings.
  • Student Resources: Important campus links and institutional tools.
  • Wireless Network Access
If you don't know your login details yet, follow these steps to find your username and set up your password from scratch.

Step 1: Find Your myBRCC Username

Before you can log in, you need to retrieve your official system username.
  1. Go to the MyBRCC portal webpage at br.my.vccs.edu (opens in new window) (or click MyBRCC at the top right of the BRCC Homepage).
  2. On the sign-in screen, click the link that says Forgot Username?.
  3. Enter the personal email address or mobile phone number you used when you originally registered for your Workforce class.
  4. Click Search. Your username will be sent to you or displayed.
Important Note on Emails: The personal email you enter must perfectly match the email you used when filling out your Workforce registration or college profile. If you have any problems with accessing the MyBRCC portal, please contact the BRCC Technology Help Desk at (540) 453-2400.

Step 2: Reset & Create Your Password

Now that you have your username, you can establish your password.
  1. Return to the main MyBRCC Portal login screen (opens in new window).
  2. Enter your recovered Username and click Go.
  3. Click the Forgot Password text link. (Note: This link will only appear after you type in a valid username).
  4. Check your personal email for a one-time verification code. Enter that code on the screen and click Go.
  5. Create your new permanent password.

Step 3: Setup Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

The VCCS requires multifactor authentication (MFA) for all students logging into MyBRCC, including Canvas, Google Drive, Gmail, and SIS.  Instructions for enrolling in MFA and videos showing how can be found at MyVCCS Support - Multi-Factor Authenication (MFA) Setup (opens in new window).  We recommend the first option, Push Authentication.
 
  1. With your username and new password ready, return to the main MyBRCC Portal login screen (opens in new window).
  2. You will be prompted immediately to set up your Account Security Questions and link a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) device (like your smartphone).
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete this verification. This ensures your account remains secure.

Step 4: Access Your Dashboard

Once you complete the security setup, you will automatically land on your MyBRCC portal homepage. Simply click on the Canvas, G-Mail, or Zoom tiles from your dashboard grid to jump straight into your resources without having to log in again!
