Quick Guide: Activating Your MyBRCC Account


The MyVCCS portal (also known as the MyBRCC portal) provides single-login access to all your primary student applications:
  • Canvas: Where your online courses, syllabi, and assignments live.
  • VCCS Email (G-Mail): Your official college email inbox.
  • Google Drive & Zoom: Tools for your course projects and live virtual class meetings.
  • Student Resources: Important campus links and institutional tools.
  • Wireless Network Access
You must claim your account and set up security before you can use these tools.

What You'll Need

  • Your username (provided in the Claim Your MyVCCS Account email received after registration) 
  • Access to your email or phone (to receive a verification code)
  • Your date of birth (format: YYYY-MM-DD)
If you did not receive the Claim Your MyVCCS Account email within 48 hours of registration, please check your spam or junk folder.  If it is still not located, contact info@brcc.edu to request that the email be resent.  When reaching out, please be sure to include the name listed on your registration.

Steps to Claim Your Account

  1. Go to the MyVCCS portal (opens in new window)
  2. Enter your username, then select Next.
  3. Choose how to receive your verification code (email or phone).
  4. Enter your date of birth in this format:  YYYY-MM-DD (example: 2001-01-02).
  5. Enter the verification code sent to you.
  6. Create a secure password.

Setup Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

After the password creation step above, you will be provided step-by-step instructions to set up multi-factor authentication.  

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an additional layer of security that requires you to verify you are who you say you are. When MFA is in place, once you enter your username and password, you are prompted to confirm your identity a second time using a physical device in your possession. Using MFA is not optional; all students are required to set it up. Failure to set up MFA will result in you not being able to access the systems housed in the MyVCCS/MyBRCC portal including Canvas and Zoom until MFA has been configured.

Access Your Dashboard

Once you complete the security setup, you will automatically land on your MyBRCC portal homepage. Simply click on the Canvas, G-Mail, or Zoom tiles from your dashboard grid to jump straight into your resources without having to log in again!
